What is Sun Damaged skin?

In simple words, we can say that skin damage occurs due to the exposure of skin to the ultraviolet radiation (UV rays). It tans or burns or damages the skin. This happens because ultraviolet radiations damage the DNA of skin cells. Studies prove that almost 300 women found that ultraviolet radiations are responsible for 80 percent of skin aging in women. This causes wrinkles and changes the texture of the skin.

Another cause of skin damage is the presence of several pollutants in the atmosphere. Air pollution, cigarette smoke, and other household and commercial pollutants and chemicals add environmental stress to the human skin. This gives birth to free radicals created through exposure to these harmful pollutants and damages the skin’s layers through a procedure called Oxidative Photo Damage.

Ways to Initiate Skin Repair

Luckily, there are several ways to help repair the skin and reverse the skin damage. Following are the multiple ways you can adopt to repair your skin at home.

1- Increase the Protein Intake

Protein helps to rebuild the skin cells. It is a key factor in the rebuilding of skin cells. Try to increase the intake of meats, eggs, beans, etc. It rebuilds the damaged cells of the skin.

2- Drink Plenty of Water

You can repair your skin at home by keeping your skin hydrated. Drinking plenty of water can help you to keep your skin hydrated. This will reduce the risks of dehydration and prevents the skin from sun damages.

3- Intake of Vitamin-C rich Foods

Vitamin C increases the production of collagen fibers in the skin. Collagen fibers build up the skin structures and increase the firmness. Vitamin C is a vital nutrient for the skin. Eating vitamin C-rich foods and drink Vitamin C-containing juices can aid you to initiate the repair of skin.

4- Using Zinc

Zinc is a mineral and plays an important role in rebuilding sun-damaged skin. It helps the generation of collagen fibers for skin tissue repair and holds up the immune system. To add zinc to your diet, you can eat whole grain pasta, mushrooms, and egg yolks as they are rich in containing Zinc.

5- Checking the Chemicals In your Diet

It should be kept in mind that if we want to protect our skin from tanning, burning, and sun damage, we must not expose our skin to the UV radiation of the Sun.
